The City of Aswan lies to the south of Luxor. The transfer by car takes around 3 hours although the actual trip can take longer if you stop to take in temples at Edfu and Kom Umbu (Ombo). And the Temple of Khnum at Esna. Cruisers will find that there is always a wait at Esna in order for your cruise ship to pass through the locks. Kom Ombo also has a Crocodile Museum with mummified crocodiles, showing the respect that the Ancients held for them.
After your transfer to Aswan you will find some Aswan Experiences! Probably the most famous is Abu Simbel, the transfer time from Aswan to the Temple of Rameses II is around 3 hours, and allowing for 2 or so hours there means a day trip of around 8 hours!
Nearer to Aswan you can view the High Dam at the north end of Lake Nasser, and there you will also find Philae Temple and the famous ‘’Unfinished Obelisk’’ both a short transfer from Aswan.
